Pakistani Journalist Zainab Abbas leave India in unplanned manner which has found herself in the center of controversy during the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup. Although the first reports suggested she left for personal reasons, rumors have been circulating on social media.
Zainab was in Hyderabad because she had been tasked for covering Pakistan’s three World Cup games there. She attended the opening match between Pakistan and the Netherlands at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Her job was to travel to places like Chennai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad where Pakistan was scheduled to play.
There are rumors that Zainab Abbas had previously posted derogatory material about India on her social media accounts. She then received harsh backlash for her reported remarks on social media.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) responded to these allegations by stating categorically that Zainab had left India for personal reasons and not as a result of any allegedly critical posts about India.
Zainab’s career started with a Dunya News audition during the 2015 World Cup, which launched her into the cricket media industry. Abbas, made history in 2019 when she reported from Pakistan for the cricket World Cup as the first female sports reporter and commentator.
