Maheesh Theekshana will not play for Sri Lanka in their World Cup opener against South Africa, according to coach Chris Silverwood on Friday. The spinner is still rehabilitating from a hamstring injury.Theekshana had experienced the pain during the Asia Cup Super 4 match at Colombo against Pakistan.
“Theekshana is still recovering from a hamstring injury, so he won’t be available for this game. But we expect him to be available very soon. The rest of them are fine,” said Silverwood ahead of Saturday’s match
While Kusal Mendis, the wicketkeeper, and captain Dasun Shanaka had minor aches and pains, Silverwood gave them permission to bat.
