WPL 2024 Auction : Total 165 Players will be Available for Auction

After the successful completion of 1st season of WPL 2023, BCCI is ready for another season of WPL. WPL 2024 Auction will be held on 9th December in Mumbai. As per BCCI total 165 players will be available for Auction.

WPL 2024 Auction Details :

BCCI has released list of 165 players, Out of which 104 are Indian players and 61 are overseas players. Out of 61 players , 15 players are from associate countries. WPL 2024 Auction will consist of 109 uncapped players and 56 capped players.

There are in total 30 slots to be filled for all five teams out of which 9 slots are for the overseas players. West Indies allrounder Deandra Dottin and Australia’s Kim Garth have kept highest Base Price of 50 Lakhs. Whereas Sri Lanka’s captain Chamira Athapaththu which is in tremendous form and second highest scorer in this years big bash league has kept her base price as 30 Lakhs.

Australia’s Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Wareham, England’s wicketkeeper Amy Jones and South Africa’s Shabnam Ismail are in the 2nd highest base price of 40 Lakhs. Collectively 60 players were retained by all five teams out of which 21 are overseas players

Each Team has given purse cap of Rs. 13.5 Crore to spend in the WPL 2024 Auction. Gujarat Giants has released more than half of the squad that’s the reason they have maximum remaining purse of Rs. 5.95 Crore. Royal Challengers Bangalore’s remaining purse is Rs. 3.35 Crore and can get 3 players. Delhi Capitals has Rs. 2.25 Crore in their purse and can get 7 players. Up Warrior’s also has decent sizable purse of Rs. 4 Crore and can get 5 Players. Defending Champion Mumbai has lowest purse of Rs. 2.1 Crore with 5 slot available.

Overall 22 Matches were played between five teams in inaugural season of WPL. The matches were played in Mumbai only. WPL 2024 are likely to be held in month of February and March and it will be great for audience if played in Multiple cities.
